Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin may have officially and consciously uncoupled after more than 10 years of marriage, but they plan to stay close. And while we may still be sad about their separation, their close friends say there’s nothing to be bummed about: This was definitely the right decision for them.

Recently, Cameron Diaz weighed in on the split in a recent chat with Extra, and assures us that Gwyneth and Chris will definitely stay friends — especially when it comes to giving their children, Apple and Moses, the best lives possible.

“I think it’s actually a very elevated and conscious and realized statement, when people like Chris and Gwyneth who really worked hard to be friends and keep the things that are good and work in their relationship, which is being friends and being parents,” Cameron says, comments she mirrored in an interview at the premiere of her new film with Leslie Mann, The Other Woman.

When Gwyneth and Chris broke the news, we knew that if anything, they’d be good at being the best ex-spouses ever. Think about it: Have we ever seen either of them fail at anything?

“People go separate ways in other aspects of their life and I think it’s really brave of them to phrase it that way,” Cameron adds, referencing the “conscious uncoupling” term they’re using to describe their split. “Leaving as a couple and deciding to stay together as parents and as friends — I think it’s beautiful. I’m so proud of them.”

And either way, we know we’re going to get some killer Coldplay music out of it. But on a serious note, we’re so glad Gwyneth and Chris seem to be handling their separation with such grace. We wish them all the best!
