Gordon Ramsay Announces End of Kitchen Nightmares (VIDEO)

The nightmare is almost over. Gordon Ramsay has announced his departure from Fox series Kitchen Nightmares.

“As filming comes to a close on the latest series of Kitchen Nightmares I’ve decided to stop making the show,” the chef writes on his website. “I’ve had a phenomenal ten years making 123 episodes, 12 seasons shot across two continents, watched by tens of millions of people and sold to over 150 countries. It’s been a blast but it’s time to call it a day.”

Gordon, famous for his foul-mouthed critiques of his fellow chefs, didn’t specify what inspired the decision but does say the final four episodes he’s currently in the midst of filming will be his last. He credits the show, which he first began filming in the U.K. in 2004, for propelling his TV career forward.

“I’m very grateful for the amazing team behind the series and for the support from the viewers for almost a decade!” the 47-year-old Scot writes, proving he’s indeed more bark than bite.

Kitchen Nightmares, of course, is the food-focused reality TV show that follows Gordon as he spends a week yanking failing restaurants off the ledge. In the U.S., Gordon’s mission to clean up kitchens have taken him from Babylon, New York, to Denver, Colorado, and while restaurateurs may not miss his meddling ways, we sure will!

Are you surprised Kitchen Nightmares is drawing to a close, or saw it coming long ago?
