Blake Lively's Big-Screen Debate: Oz or Savages?
Gossip Girl star Blake Lively (Serena) is one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood, so it’s no wonder two major films are fighting over her. According to Variety, Blake is the front-runner to play the female lead in Oliver Stone’s Savages. If she takes that job, she won’t be able to star as Glinda the Good Witch in Sam Raimi’s Oz: The Great and Powerful for Disney. While it’s no Sophie’s Choice, it’s still quite the dilemma!
However, it appears she’s leaning toward Savages. While at CinemaCon earlier this month, where she accepted the award for Breakthrough Performer of the Year, she gushed, “I'm a huge fan of Oliver Stone. I would love to [work with him] [...] [W]hen you look at directors that you want to work with, he's always on the top of the list. It would be a dream to be able to work with him."
In Savages, two Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins — who will potentially be played by Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch — are coerced into joining a Mexican drug cartel after their free-spirited girlfriend, Ophelia, is kidnapped. Benicio del Toro may sign on as one of the cartel enforcers.
