There’s no easy way to end a show that has been on for so many years and has had as many ups and downs as Gossip Girl. The best that fans could have hoped for was that the showrunners would put in the effort to tie up some loose ends, and leave the Upper East Side no worse for wear.

In the series finale, Season 6, Episode 10 "New York, I Love You XOXO,” Blair (Leighton Meester) marries Chuck (Ed Westwick) (and has a kid with him, natch), Serena (Blake Lively) marries Dan (Penn Badgley) (who turns out to be Gossip Girl), and somehow Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) ends up a mayoral candidate. Plus, other things happen.

And for as many questions as we had answered, and as many ships as sailed off into the blue-skied distance, OTPs aboard for the long haul, there were some things wrong with how everything played out.

First of all, Dan is Gossip Girl? Uh, okay. Second, Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg), who by all counts was MARRIED WITH A CHILD last time we checked, just ends up all wordlessly stroking Jack (Desmond Harrington)’s cheekboned head while the tar-hearted twosome feels sentimental at a wedding.

Third, Lily (Kelly Rutherford) ends up with William, who abandoned her and her kids, lied about Lily having a TERMINAL condition to get close to her, had an affair with her sister, and slept with the woman who screwed Lily over... to be close to her? We can only take one formerly-abusive relationship ending in rainbows... sorry.

We could go on, but the show is over and everything that happened, happened. Are you glad it did? What would you have rewritten, and how? Weigh in.
