We like to imagine that at the other end of every phone dialed on Gossip Girl, the actor who is receiving that call is as excited as we are about the content being discussed. Sometimes we make up their responses, which is totally not crazy, for the record.
On Gossip Girl Season 6, Episode 6, "Where the Vile Things Are, Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) ended the episode on the phone to some mysterious character, saying that they she "found the silver bullet [they] were looking for.” She was referring to the envelope she had cut out of the back of Bart Bass’s painting, which contained film slides of something. Presumably, the slides contained the information about his illegal oil purchases from Sudan (we’re just gonna let the farfetchedness of that one slide, as it were).
So, who was Ivy calling to gloat about the find? The last time she made a phone call of dubious nature, it was to Charlie “Lola” Rhodes (Ella Rae Peck), telling her that she was manipulating Rufus (Matthew Settle) to take down Lily (Kelly Rutherford). But something tells us, that the Broadway-dreaming Lola would be in a little over her head with the day-to-day of scheming, so we doubt it was her.
Although she had previously been halvsies in conspiring with Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick), we know that he was the one she screwed over by taking his $2.2 mill for the painting and keeping the only part of it he wanted (is art not sacred anymore, people?!?).
But could it have been another Bass on the other end? We’ve heard Uncle Jack (Desmond Harrington) is coming to town and he does have an excellent phone voice... And he is rather handsome, so considering Ivy sounded flirty when she said it was time for the other person to come back, we're thinking the two may know each other in the biblical sense. Plus, there’s the benefit that Jack has had a hand in many a shady dealing where Bass Industries is involved. He may have something more to lose than we know of if this information got out.
There's a hugely likely suspect we forgot about for a minute there, but whose return has been hinted at. They know each other from the vdW loft, and according to Michael Ausiello, “we’ll quickly learn his tentacles have been stirring one particular pot all season long.” Plus, there's this whole thing. We're talking about William van der Woodsen. He's got just the right amount of shadiness, and mixed with his need to destroy his ex-wife, we'd say he makes a worthy partner.
What do you think? Is there another villain we haven’t considered? Could Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) and Juliet (Katie Cassidy) be involved somehow? The latter was spotted on set and is slated to return in the finale. Weigh in below, Gossipers. We would love to know what you think.
