For a while, we actually thought Chuck (Ed Westwick) and Blair (Leighton Meester) might actually be making the *cough* best decision ever *cough* by tying the knot in Gossip Girl’s Season 6 premiere.

However, it turns out that talk of such a wedding was simply the case of a blind item misunderstood, and Chuck won’t actually be putting a ring on it in the foreseeable future. So, now that that’s all cleared up, what will be the status of Chuck and Blair’s relationship at the beginning of Season 6 — and after what we hope was a summer of love abroad?

E! Online reports that though the pair are “not officially dating” at the start of the season, they “both aren’t dating anyone else” either. No, it seems Chair has decided to focus on their individual needs for the time being. That way, if they do get back together, there won’t be anything to stand in their way.

How very mature of them! We’re actually quite impressed. You know, as long as they do end up getting back together later this season... So all of our wildest dreams can finally be realized.
