It may be Blair Waldorf who regularly dreams in Old Hollywood-inspired black and white, but come 100th episode it'll be her bff SERENA who's dreaming she's Marilyn Monroe!

In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Joshua Safran confirms that the upcoming, much-teased dance sequence dream belongs to its star, Serena (Blake Lively), who flits about as Marilyn Monroe performing "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," while being doted on by many-a familiar-faced dude.
"Because Serena so often and early on was always paired with somebody and shared her life with somebody... To actually have a life on her own, some anxiety and neurosis might slip in," Safran explained. "She's dealing with those and growing from them. If anything, the dream sequence maybe shows where she's at a little bit."
Like, jealous of her best friend and turning to the superficial for comfort?! (We kid, we kid!) But seriously, what is going on in S's mind that she's dreaming of this silliness? And what about the ending, where Blair (Leighton Meester) emerges and takes Dan (Penn Badgley) with her?
Safran says it's all part of a bigger arc, wherein Serena will be looking to her past to hopefully gain insight into her future. "Episode 10 started Serena on a path to look at her past," he said, "Especially as it concerns her relationships and what they've actually meant to her. That takes her into some surprising directions. Maybe there is a little bit, for her, of revisiting the past."
