We’ve pondered the potential outcomes! We’ve examined the photos! But now Ed Westwick has officially taken the guess work out of the question of Chuck’s survival...

HE LIVES!

In an interview with E! Online at last week’s TCAs, when asked if he could tease Chuck’s upcoming role in Blair’s royal wedding, Ed told them, “There is a wedding. There’s a car accident. That already happened... Well, obviously I survive that.”

Good to finally have that on the record, no?

“He’s the man of steel,” Ed said of his on-screen bad boy-gone good. “It’s like that film Final Destination. That’s what it is! I’ll make the transition to Final Destination 55 or whatever. He just can’t be killed.”

Duhhh, he’s Chuck Bass!! We have our theories on this invincible hero ― don’t question our use of the term “hero,” please ― but Ed points to one thing in particular that makes the man so dang lovable: HIS HEART.

“In the beginning he was just this kind of brat, this total brat,” Ed describes. “And I enjoyed it a lot. Then we explored it and realized that there was this heart that had just been beaten down so much. Or a heart that had been ignored [so] that it no longer knew how to beat really. Then this thing with Blair really was the ultimate kind of growth of that.”

And does he miss the old “total brat” Chuck? (If we’re bein’ honest, sometimes we do too!)

“I miss the cocky one-liners,” Ed confessed. “They’re still there, but it’s kind of in a different way now. I think in a way, he’s probably the most mature out of all of them, especially this season ― which isn’t fun!”
