Miike Snow is a two-year-old Swedish band consisting of no one named Miike. Members include singer/songwriter Andrew Wyatt, and the producing team of Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, also known as Bloodshy & Avant. The band has gained buzz in Britain from wacky rumors that Christian (Bloodshy) is the reincarnation of Grigori Rasputin, a Russian mystic who heavily influenced Tsar Nicholas Romanov II and his family and may have led to their downfall in 1917.
Who is Miike Snow? Miike Snow is the band's eponymous debut album. It was recorded in Stockholm and released early on May 12, 2009, by Downtown Records.
In an interview with ClashMusic.com, Wyatt discussed their unexpected popularity, "I don't think our project was that thought out when we started. We just wanted to make music together. Three people just messing about. I don't think we anticipated the level of attention that it's getting right now. We didn't even think about touring when we started the album."
