The CW loves itself some happy-go-lucky teenage innocence, but Gossip Girl is a middle-aged parent's nightmare. The show deals with sex, drugs, entitled rich kids, and bullying, and some ‘rentals are less than thrilled that their kiddos watch it. And by "some ‘rentals" we mean the entire nation of China.

Apparently the wayward teens of China are being negatively influenced by Gossip Girl, especially when it comes to underage sex. Parents are concerned that their kids are going on "hotel dates," wherein couples book themselves hotel rooms for afternoon delights.

"The free and open life in Gossip Girl — a US-based teen drama — seems fancy and we yearn for that," an anonymous 15-year-old from Shanghai tells People's Daily. "When we see how open they are, we believe that we behave too conservatively."

There's no doubt that Gossip Girl has the power to influence teens both positively and negatively, but hey. It's called parental control for a reason. Hotel hookups were popular long before Gossip Girl's time, and it was only a matter of time before teens caught on!
