Fans of Gossip Girl have long speculated about the true identity of Gossip Girl. Which of our favorite Upper East Siders is the woman behind the curtain of all things concerning Manhattan's elite? Well, maybe Gossip Girl is really a Gossip Boy. At least, that's what Matthew Settle (Rufus) hopes.
Matthew spoke to TV Guide about his character arc on the hit show and revealed what he thinks about in the dark recesses of the night. "I would love to see Rufus discover a painting like a Jackson Pollock or something and come into money," he said. "To suddenly have his own money and see what moral dilemmas he would face if he had the same sort of finances that the others do. Plus I sometimes fantasise that Rufus is Gossip Girl!"
Can you even imagine? It would be perfect! The pious Rufus is actually the one tearing down the excess of the UES. Still, Matthew says Rufus isn't as squeaky clean as he used to be. "I think he was a bit of an outsider in the beginning, and now he's more a part of the Upper East Side. I think he's grown and understands a bit more about what it's like to be up there, to have that position in life. I feel like he judges it a little less."
