We know now that dear lil’ Ivy Dickens will soon be returning to the Upper East Side to celebrate Valentine’s Day ― possibly alongside the real Charlie Rhodes?... that oughta be fun! ― but the holiday might hold a wee bit less joy this year for Ivy’s off-screen counterpart, Kaylee DeFer

On Thursday, at a party celebrating GG’s 100th episode at NYC’s Skylight Studios, Kaylee told US Weekly that her engagement to jewelry designer Mike Pereira has been officially called off.

“We’ve just separated,” Kaylee told the mag. “I was engaged for a long time and this is me being single.”

Back in October, Kaylee gushed about her gorgeous engagement rings (yes, rings!), but pointed to the move to NYC to work on Gossip Girl as a possible wedding-planning derailment. “We had a date and then I booked Gossip Girl and then it was really impossible to plan the wedding in LA from NY,” she said at the time. “So we kind of put a hold on it for the time being and then once things settle down I’ll get back into bridezilla mode.”

Though Ivy’s had a few weeks with no screen time, she looks to have at least a handful of episodes still to come. Whether the continuing separation and delay is to blame or not ― and we’d hate to think Ivy is to blame for something else! ― Kaylee said there are no hard feelings between the two. “I think sometimes you just realize it’s time to move on,” she told the mag.

With V Day just around the corner, though, Kaylee has a back-up plan that’ll help to curtail any would-be sorrow ― and we totally love it! She explained, “I’m going to sit down with a group of friends and make a bunch of old school Valentines like you did back in the day. We’ll send them out to all of these people from your past, present, and people you want to get to know. Because who doesn’t want to have a Valentine on Valentine’s Day?”
