Major Gossip Girl Season 5 Spoilers: Does Chuck Come Between Dan and Blair?

It’s the question being asked by ALL Dair fans as the return of Gossip Girl Season 5 approaches… Just how LONG will the magic last? (And, for Chair fans: How long will this nightmare continue to pour acid in our eyes?)

As it turns out, one half of the Dair duo is feeling insecure! Oh, Humphrey.

In a recent chat with TVLine, GG executive producer Joshua Safran teased the future of Dair and pointed to the concerns of one Dan Humphrey as a bit of a roadblock in their path to ‘shipped-up bliss…

“The obstacles are always going to be that Dan knows just how big of a presence Chuck has been in Blair’s life,” Safran shared. “And that’s something Blair works very hard to put Dan at ease about, but I think the harder she works at [it], the more uneasy he feels.”

The romance is also set to rock a few boats as the couple goes public. Said Safran, “Obviously, their relationship is hard for everybody around them because Serena was and maybe still is in love with Dan. And Chuck has his issues that he’s dealing with. And whenever Chuck is dealing with issues, Blair often wants to help.”

(So, pssst, Chair ‘shippers, we’d still say that all hope is definitely not lost just yet!)

Safran also confirmed that Louis is no longer a factor in the love square-turned-back-to-triangle, though it may not necessarily be fixed by the person we’re expecting. “The situation will be taken care of,” Safran said. “I’m not sure it’s ultimately Georgina who takes care of it.”

At least that would void the pact that B had to make with the evil Ms. Sparks… riiight?
