There’s been a lot of shade thrown Blake Lively’s way in the past few weeks, with gossip rags claiming that the portrayer of small screen icon Serena van der Woodsen is the only cast member standing in the way of a Gossip Girl movie. And although her reps publicly declared that the stories are not only untrue, but also fabricated out of thin air, speculation continues.

So, to set the record straight, Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with Mr. Gossip Girl himself, Penn Badgley (Dan), at the H&M Conscious Collection launch in NYC on April 4, 2013. Natch, Penn was happy not only to address rumors, but also to talk about his first post-GG project, playing Jeff Buckley in the upcoming biopic Greetings from Tim Buckley, which required the well-rounded actor to sing and emote all over the stage on the big screen.

Wetpaint Entertainment: Any truth to those Gossip Girl movie rumors?
Penn Badgley: No. [Laughs] I didn't even know there were any, but no. Not at all.

Wetpaint: Would you do a Gossip Girl movie?
Penn: No, I don't think it's a good idea, The show ended and wrapped it all up. Let's leave it at that.

Wetpaint: After playing Dan Humphrey for so long, was there any trepidation into taking on the iconic role of Jeff Buckley?
Penn: Yeah. I definitely was thinking about that, but not too much. I can say that Dan Humphrey was not on my mind. I was aware that people were kind of skeptical and dubious, which is fair, but I was really trying to live in the same head space that he might have been in at that time — just electric and wild and searching. I think more than anything, he was a real seeker. So I was trying to, on and off camera, not in any obnoxious method way — I was still myself — but I was just trying to live as openly as I could. In that sense, Gossip Girl wasn't really on my mind.

Not on his mind? That makes one of us. Guess it goes to show that — even when you think Serena might be the problem — Gossip Girl always has a say... Are you still hoping the stars will come together to show us the future of the Upper East Side? Weigh in below.
