Gossip Girl won’t be on again for a few weeks, so we needed “The Debarted” to be filled with plenty of drama and plot twists to hold us over. Here’s a silent clap for the writers.
Thankfully Chuck and Blair are as solid as ever, and (surprise!) we even see someone actually mourning Bart -- tears and all. Who else could have ever cared that much about Bart? Chuck’s mom. That’s right, people. She’s the one who’s back from the dead and Chuck's an orphan no more!
Maureen isn’t about to let some leggy teenage home wrecker destroy her marriage and all she’s plotted for. Mrs. Vanderbilt agrees to let Trip do the nasty with S while she remains by his side in the public eye. Sound familiar? So what could possibly convince Serena to ever play along with this scheme? Maureen has the letter from Daddy van der Woodsen that reveals what Lily has been up to. Sweet glory! S calls her mom to give the heads up on wifezilla’s plans and Lil promises to come clean to Rufus. Too bad Maureen beats Lily to the punch.
And The Just Plain Sinful:
Speaking of punches… Just when we think things with Serena and Trip hit rock bottom, these two hit something else – a guardrail on the side of a dark and lonely road. Instead of immediately calling 911, Trip calls Maureen to help clean up his mess! He moves the now unconscious and bleeding-from-the-head Serena into the driver’s seat and peaces outta there.
When Nate confronts Trip outside of the hospital, it’s Maureen who lays down the law. Grandfather is on her side and just so happens to be buddy-buddy with the police. She’s willing to give a statement that Trip was with her the whole night, and besides, who would believe a skanky ex drug user like Serena? How could Nate possibly one up that? With a hard swift jab to Trip’s jaw! We’re just disappointed it wasn’t a total knockout.
