Photo: Blair and Chuck meet face to face. The beginnings of a peace treaty, we hope?
It’s Blair’s birthday, which can mean only one thing — epic party. As Queen B waves goodbye to her teens, she does her best to leave her childish ways behind her, getting serious about making peace with Chuck. Nate and Serena sit their two besties down to forge a truce. A real one. It’s notarized.
So that means Blair’s party will go off without a hitch, right? Ha. You must be new. No, it seems Blair’s party happens to fall on the same night as Rufus and Lily’s first wedding anniversary. Eric and Dan take it into their heads that B’s party is a major insult to the van der Humphrey clan, although we don’t really get what their problem is — who wants to celebrate their wedding anniversary with a big party? Anyway, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dan decide it’s time to turn to the dark side and do a scheme. After initial attempts to break up Chuck and Blair’s new alliance fail, Eric cries uncle, but Dan forges on (Again: why? We’re still not sure why he’s so invested in his dad’s anniversary), stealing a copy of C and B’s truce to find out how best to ruin Blair’s big day.

Photo: Aww, it's their anniversary. Congratulations you crazy kids!
And he’s in luck: There is video. No, not a Serena-style snuff film (please, do you think Blair’s dumb enough to allow the bloody deaths of her enemies to be caught on tape?). Adorably, the thing B finds most mortifying in the world is a clip of her drunkenly singing “Stand By Your Man.”

Well, we thought it was precious, but Blair’s high society guests did seem at least mildly shocked — somehow it made Rachel Zoe fall in fondue. We hope she absorbed some much-needed calories through her pores. Blair flees the scene, mortified, but not before giving Chuck a good tongue lashing, assuming he’s the culprit. Chuck is livid, and returns after the party to tear up the truce. Chuck and Blair declare their hatred for each other. Their eternal, consuming, burning, pulsing, throbbing hatred. And then they give each other another tongue lashing — on top of Blair’s mom’s piano. Oh, it’s back awwnnn.
Meanwhile, Serena spends the episode coyly pretending she’s not about to ruin a guy’s life and get him fired. She and Professor Colin are flirting like mad during office hours, and Serena finally reaches her celibacy limit (after like a day). Juliet cunningly manages to sneak into Blair’s party on Serena’s arm to “keep her out of trouble” and Nate actually tries to keep her out of trouble. But it was all futile — before the night’s over, Serena and Colin are locking lips. Of course, Juliet manages to catch it on tape. See Blair? That’s what they call an incriminating video.
