Get yourself Gossip Girl edjumacated, friends! Learn about all the cultural references (pop and otherwise) you might have missed during Season 4, Episode 14: “Panic Roommate.” If you don't know, now you know....

Panic Room
This week’s episode title comes from the film Panic Room, a 2002 thriller starring Jodie Foster and a young Kristen Stewart. They play a mother and daughter who lock themselves in a panic room in their New York City town house to avoid a murderous band of burglars. See, Dan? Your living situation could be much worse.

Jen Brill
One of the women Serena was talking to at the W party was real NYC socialite Jen Brill. Brill is a photographer’s agent, model, and general girl-about-town. She’s engaged to Terry Richardson, who took those racy photos of Blake and Leighton sharing an ice cream cone. And so the circle of celebrity life continues.

Humberto Leon
One of the other party guests was Humberto Leon, co-founder of the swanky downtown boutique Opening Ceremony. Do you think a guest spot on Gossip Girl is to the NYC fashion set what having the best Pokemon cards was in elementary school? It appears to have become totally de rigueur.

Florence + the Machine
That dreamy soundtrack for the W party was provided by Florence + the Machine, a genre-defying pop act headlined by Florence Welch. Their unique sound has garnered them tons of adulation, including a Grammy nomination. Which is probably the only way you can get away with appearing on Gossip Girl in a granny nightgown, as Florence did.
