There’s no such thing as a party on the UES without a heaping helping of drama — even when that party is a wake. With Georgina’s plotting, Blair’s ongoing love triangle, and William’s return, it was even more gasp-inducing than we expected.
Here are our top five shocking moments. Share your additions in the comments!
CeCe leaves everything to Ivy — putting Lily out of house & home.
Okay, so we saw half of this one coming, but dang it if it wasn’t still great to see Lily (Kelly Rutherford) and crew squirm at the news of their mother’s fortune going to their least favorite person on the UES! One thing that was surprising? That CeCe (Caroline Lagerfelt) gave the goods to Ivy (Kaylee DeFer), rather than Charlie, meaning she knew exactly what was going on. We can’t decide if she was either a) giving a final middle finger to her crappy, money-obsessed fam, or b) doing a solid for one seriously lost girl. (That is, unless Ivy was making a play for cash when she went to see CeCe in the Hamptons...) Adding insult to injury, Ivy usurped the vdW pad at night’s end and gave Lily and Rufus (Matthew Settle) the boot! Classy.
Blair makes a pact with Georgina.
We’re not exactly sure how it is that when Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) resurfaces nobody remembers that she’s a lowdown, dirty, attention-starved borderline sociopath, but somehow it happens every freakin’ time. Up until now, Blair (Leighton Meester) has been the one person able to resist her — but not anymore! After B’s disappointing day, in which her two possible marriage outs eventually elude her, she promises G that if she’s successful in breaking things off with Louis (Hugo Becker), she’ll do her a to-be-determined favor. Does this not sound like a terrible idea to anyone else? We’re basically expecting Georgina to go full-on Rumpelstiltskin soon…
Georgina hands over the reins of Gossip Girl to… Serena.
We kinda figured Serena’s (Blake Lively) new career opp might be of this variety, but we’re still dying to know what happens next! Serena has been dead-set against GG for so long. What will her reaction be? Will she make a play for stardom? Put the laptop in a trash compactor? And what happens when the real Gossip Girl resurfaces? Just remember, S: With great power comes great responsibility. (But, really now, it’d be way more fun if she just played the villain for a while and went all-in, no? No? Okayyy…)
Lily tells Chuck that Jack saved his life.
Oh, family, you fickle, fickle thaaang! As Chuck (Ed Westwick) turns to Lily with the news that Blair just epically stomped on his heart, she, in turn, winds up and delivers a massive curveball: Chuck’s a-hole uncle, Jack (Desmond Harrington), stepped up to the plate — baseball puns for days, guys — to give him a life-saving blood transfusion. Suddenly, that sneaky phone call between Diana (Elizabeth Hurley) and Jack makes a little more sense (except, of course, for the whole Diana part). Sounds like Chuck is headin’ for some family dramz that may distract him from his wounded heart.
William vdW is Lola's father!!!
BOOM! Now this makes things interesting, eh? Carol (character name) decides the perfect setting for a family truth bomb is at her mother’s wake — at least once she realizes that her mother didn’t leave her anything. She says she’ll keep the truth to herself if William (William Baldwin) figures out a way to get her some Benjamins (and lots of them), but Georgina was waiting in the wings to hear the news. Of course. Could that li'l tidbit be on the that laptop she sent over to Serena’s doorstep? Lola’s (Ella Rae Peck) world is officially about to get even more nutty! (Our advice? Girl, take Nate (Chace Crawford) and some money and just GO. This won’t end well for you.)
