Gossip Girl

Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) may be about to have his day in the sun with the object of his affection (over and over again? KISSES, so many KISSES!), but we have a feeling that same lady will be noneee too pleased when it’s revealed that Dan was the one who sent the video of her little declaration of Chuck (Ed Westwick)-love to Gossip Girl and, by proxy, THE ENTIRE WORLD.

Sure, the video was so.freakin’.obvious., but it also was basically the most embarrassing thing that could happen at any wedding EVER, so if it were us… well, suffice it to say we’re not sure we’d be makin’ out with the source of the leak (unless we knew of some rock solid justification for their acts… we’re not ROBOTS, okay? That incoming kiss is magical!!)

So why did Danny boy send in the video to Gossip Girl? Why did he put his future with B in jeopardy by sharing her very private moment with the entire UES? As far as we see it, his reason’s gotta fall into one of two categories: either it was totally self-sacrificing, or it was just totally selfish…

He did it to save Blair! (Self-Sacrificing)
What do we know about Dan Humphrey thus far in his bid for B’s heart? We know he has, up until this week, done absolutely no bidding at all! The dude has stood around and tried to get her back with Chuck because it was what he thought she really wanted, and he also held her hand through that paternity test/baby jumble of wackitude. In short, what we know about Dan is that he wants Blair to be happy. And knowing that Louis was not going to make her happy, perhaps he just felt the need to save her from her terrible, terrible decisions.

Then again, love makes a person do crazy, crazy things, so we wouldn’t be surprised if Dan merely saw a quick, last-ditch opportunity to ruin the wedding and WENT FOR IT. Sure, it was gonna unveil the true desires of Blair’s heart and show the world that she really loves Chuck – aka someone that’s not Dan – but at the same time, perhaps with B assuming it was Chuck who did the sending, Dan thought he’d be the shoulder to cry on? Dan’s never been too deceptive in his end goals, but L-O-V-E is on the line and he was desperate!! He’s also very dead-set on Blair not finding out about his actions, which leads us to believe they may have had his best interest at their core...
