As Chuck Bass, actor Ed Westwick speaks in an Upper East Side snarl so perfect, it is hard to imagine he is anything but a filthy rich New York party boy. Imagine again. He’s from the UK, and Gossip Girl fans go crazy when they hear Westwick speak in his posh British accent. Somehow this makes him even cooler, although how could that even be possible? Westwick trained at the National Youth Theatre and landed parts in British TV shows before finding work as a supporting player in such well-received films as Children of Men and Son of Rambow. Prior to starring in Gossip Girl, Westwick fronted an indie rock band, The Filthy Youth. Chuck Bass—especially when he’s embroiled in whatever he’s embroiled in with soulmate/nemesis Blair Waldorf—has become one of the most popular Gossip Girl characters. His high profile has resulted in an endorsement deal for Westwick with K-Swiss sneakers, and film and TV roles in Gossip Girl's off-season; he’s set to play Heathcliff in a new version of Wuthering Heights, and to appear in the Showtime series, Californication. In real life, Westwick aims his sultry pout at actress Jessica Szohr, who plays Vanessa on Gossip Girl.
