Michelle Trachtenberg was born and raised in New York City, making her just as city savvy (but hopefully not as bitchy and coke-inclined) as Georgina Sparks, the character she plays on Gossip Girl. Her first acting job was a Wisk Detergent commercial she did at the age of three. It's been onward and upward with the arts ever since. Michelle is perhaps best known for playing Dawn Summers in the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Penny in the film adaption of Inspector Gadget, and Harriet M. Welch in Harriet the Spy. She is set to star in the fall 2009 NBC drama Mercy, a commitment that potentially could cut into her Gossip Girl role.
