It's the first day of school, and Queen Blair and her "posse" interview different girls to decide whether or not they should be inducted into their clique. Dan bumps into a new student, Amanda—where'd she come from?—and they form an instant bond. However, Blair and her gang of girls attempt to sabotage Dan's new friendship by inviting Amanda into their group. Unable to be "just friends" with Dan, Serena escapes into old ways and wants back on top of the Constance Billard hierarchy. In the meantime, Vanessa meets with Duchess Catherine and Blair dreams up a new blackmail scheme. Will they free Nate from his stint as a hooker?
