So you’re sitting on a bus, trying to mind your own business and get home as quickly as possible. The doors open at some random stop, two hooded young men get on, you check your phone. Then those new guys start playing some music really loud and you think, “Awesome.” But turns out those two guys — they just happen to be Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

The current darlings of hip hop recently surprised New York City commuters with an impromptu concert on a bus. Watch the bus riders’ expressions go from “stupid kids” to “those guys look kinda familiar” to “holy s—, that’s Macklemore!” in the course of about five seconds in video captured of the performance. Even better are the older folks who probably think Mack and Ryan are just some music loving hooligans.

Performing their hit “Can’t Hold Us,” the Washington State natives make the most of the cramped quarters to get their fellow passengers clapping and dancing in their seats. At the end, Macklemore shouts “We on a bus!” before fist-bumping the driver and getting off, stunning a woman waiting at the stop.

The already much-lauded musical duo are up for seven Grammys at this year’s show, set to air Sunday, January 26. If we’re lucky, they’ll take the bus.
