Macklemore may have gone home with 4 awards after last night’s Grammys, but there’s one he thinks he shouldn’t have won: Best Rap Album. Instead, he wishes his pal Kendrick Lamar would’ve been awarded that title — and he spoke out on Twitter Sunday night to share his thoughts.

“My text to Kendrick after the show,” Macklemore tweeted along with a screenshot of his text message. “He deserved best rap album… I’m honored and completely blown…”

In the message, Macklemore assures his friend that he still believes he was more deserving of the award — and that he meant to mention that fact during his speech, but he got too caught up in the moment.

“You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have,” Macklemore said. “It’s weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech and I froze.”

That pesky music, playing over people when they’re trying to thank their friends and family for too long. Sometimes, we’re thankful for it — but otherwise we hate when our favorite artists get cut off before we can hear everything they have to say.

“Congrats on this year and your music,” Macklemore continued. “Appreciate you as an artist and a friend. Much love.”

Also, can we just point out that Macklemore has 1,133 unread text messages? We can’t help but wondering if it’s just people congratulating him on his Grammy wins, or if the dude is always this popular.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis not only won Best Rap Album, but also Best New Artist, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song. Congrats, guys — even if you don’t think you deserved it.
