Will Macklemore and Ryan Lewis win big at the 2014 Grammys, or will the “Thrift Shop” duo strike out on music’s biggest night? We’ll find out when the 2014 Grammy Awards air on Sunday, January 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
The Seattle rapper and his producing partner are nominated for seven Grammys tonight, including noms in three of the biggest categories — Song of the Year ("Same Love"), Album of the Year (The Heist) and Best New Artist. But they face some stiff competition from teen messiah Lorde, who’s also up for four nominations, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year for her chart-topping debut single “Royals.”
Surprisingly, the 17-year-old from New Zealand was snubbed in two major categories — Best New Artist and Album of the Year. Instead, British singer-songwriter James Blake picked up a surprising nom for Best New Artist, thank to his impressive 2013 release, Overgrown. In another surprising twist, Sara Bareilles scored a coveted Album of the Year nom for her The Blessed Unrest. Will the 34-year-old pull off the night’s biggest upset, besting Taylor Swift (Red), Daft Punk (Random Access Memories), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (The Heist), and Grammy newbie Kendrick Lamar (good kid, m.A.A.d. city) for the night’s top prize?
You can also expect performances from Bruno Mars, Sara Bareilles and Carole King, Hunter Hayes, Keith Urban, Kacey Musgraves, John Legend, Robin Thicke and Chicago, Imagine Dragons, and Pink and Nate Ruess. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl will be closing out the night with a rock supergroup, featuring Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, and Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac.
Sounds like a memorable night of awesome music! Remember, tonight is about celebrating music — so haters to the left — and Wetpaint Entertainment has the full Grammys 2014 winners list right here!
