Grant Gustin’s Arrow Debut Gives the CW Show Series High Ratings!

Talk about a super-powered entrance! Glee vet Grant Gustin — who played scheming, potential Blaine-snatching Warbler Sebastian on the Fox musical comedy — made his big debut as Barry Allen on The CW’s Arrow last night, and his entrance sent the show’s ratings to a series high.

More than 3.1 million people tuned in to watch Grant’s debut as mild-mannered tech geek Barry Allen (a character who will later don red spandex to become lightning-fast superhero, The Flash). This is a 20 percent jump up from the show’s previous week, and the most viewers Arrow has had since February. That makes it tied for the show’s best ratings in its two-year history.

Barry — who at the end of last night’s episode was involved in a big cliffhanger with Arrow himself, Oliver Queen — will appear in two more episodes of Arrow this season. He’ll be in next week’s fall finale, as well as Season 2, Episode 20 when it airs next year. After that, Grant and his “obnoxious CW hair” (to quote Glee’s Kurt) will take center stage, starring in their own CW pilot centered around The Flash.

For context, 3.1 million viewers is actually low for a show like Glee, which has multiple times raked in up to 7 million viewers an episode and considers its recent average of 4 million viewers to be uncharacteristically low. But 3.1 is a win for Arrow, especially in the demographic of men 18-34, a market that Glee hasn’t exactly been able to corner just yet.

All in all, Grant Gustin seems to be doing great things for Arrow. With the success of his episode last night, it sounds like his upcoming Flash pilot has a very good chance of making it big!
