In Star-Crossed — premiering midseason on The CW — alien teens and human teens struggle to integrate as the extraterrestrials are released from internment camps ten years after their arrival.
Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with one of the show's stars, Grey Damon, at a party for The Walking Dead on Friday, July 19, to get a sneak preview of the drama (and fun) of what's bound to be a stellar show.
Wetpaint Entertainment: How would you describe your new show, Star-Crossed?
Grey Damon: The show's about aliens, but I think it's really about relationships and civil rights and just conflicts that arise with those things. So there are aliens, but — kind of how The Walking Dead is really about survival or Friday Night Lights is really about relationships … I think it's like that.
What were your thoughts when you read the pilot?
I was really interested to see what they would do with it, and I wasn't disappointed. Mainly I wanted to know what the aliens looked like. And originally I went in for Roman, and then they were like, "Well, we're interested in you for Grayson." And I was like, "All right. I'll have a look at him. I don't want to play me, again." And I read it, and I was like, I think this could be challenging and fun, and I was excited.
Grayson — he's a talkative, fun guy; but he definitely has some secrets and some layers there that I'm really excited to explore.
And how does he fit into the universe?
He is just another boy in love with a girl, or falling in love, or interested, or what have you. We'll see.
Are you guys having fun?
I think we are having a blast, yeah.
You've never looked as happy as you were yesterday when you were with co-stars Amy Teegarden and Matt Lanter. It was crazy.
They're so great. And honestly, I've been so fortunate that I've been able to work with great casts every time. And I'm not just saying that. Maybe that's just my personality. Maybe I just enjoy myself no matter what, but they're professional. They're sweet kids. Yeah, it's going to be fun, and I'm really excited.
You guys seem to really like each other.
Well, they're very easy to get along with. They're just sweet kids, and they're cool. They're cool kids.
