One of our favorite things about Grey’s Anatomy is the soundtrack — every song we hear on the show never fails to be the perfect backing track for each moment. And best of all, we’ve been able to discover so many new songs and artists because we heard them during some of our favorite scenes.
We already gave you a list of our favorite music moments in Season 9, but now that the season’s complete, here’s a new list of our favorite music moments from the end of the season.
Sea Fog by Keane (Episode 21, “Sleeping Monster”) This song played as Bailey found out she was the cause of the Staph infection and tested positive for that particular strain. We think this song was a perfect fit.
Beat of the Drum by Van She (Episode 22: “Do You Believe In Magic?”) We heard this song as Cristina tried to find a way to wake up Ethan’s dad. We had never heard of this song until we saw this episode, but it sounds unmistakably like a Grey’s song to us.
I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers (Episode 23: “Readiness Is All”) This song played during Matthew’s flash mob proposal to April. This fun, upbeat song works so well with a flash mob, and this scene will always be one of our favorites from Season 9.
Without You by Ingrid Michaelson (Episode 24: “The Perfect Storm”) Ingrid Michaelson is a popular pick for Grey’s Anatomy’s soundtracks, and we love her, so that’s just fine with us! This is the song that is playing in the season finale as the bus explodes and Jackson emerges and we find out he made it out just in time.
All of Me by John Legend (Episode 24: “The Perfect Storm”) This brand new, freshly released track from John Legend plays toward the end of the episode, as Alex and Jo finally confess their feelings for eachother, April tells Jackson she still loves him, and Cristina ends things with Owen. We love that this song was chosen for these scenes since it fits each couple so perfectly.
