The Grey's Anatomy Season 9 finale left a lot of things open-ended — especially the relationship statuses of several of our favorite couples. One of the biggest questions on our minds is what will happen to Callie and Arizona.

We were shocked when Arizona cheated on Callie with visiting surgeon Lauren (guest star Hilarie Burton), especially after everything they'd already been through this season. And the fight that followed when Callie found out broke our hearts to watch. So what happens next?

Luckily, Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes is ready to shed some light on the situation. "Callie isn't a victim; she's never really been a victim," Shonda told The Hollywood Reporter. "And she's been cheated on before with George. So how she's going to take this and what she's going to do next is going to be the bigger issue."

And as for Arizona? Portrayer Jessica Capshaw recently said that "Arizona does not forgive Callie for promising her that she would not amputate her leg and then amputating her leg.” But it isn’t all bad news — it will make for good TV. "I do think that with any kind of infidelity, on some level — unless you're dealing with a sociopath — there's always a reason,” she noted. There will be an exploration of what that reason was and that will give the Grey's writers fertile ground to play with next season.

What do you think will happen to Callie and Arizona? Will they be able to forgive each other and move on, or is their relationship already history? Sound off below!
