Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang) is no stranger to receiving accolades for her work. The Golden Globe-winning, Emmy-nominated actress has justifiably been praised and showered with awards and nominations for her work on Grey's (as well as movies like Sideways). But soon, she'll be given a very different kind of reward for her work.

Sandra, who was born in Ottawa suburb Nepean, is going to be presented with a key to the city of Ottawa. Really!

Ottawa mayor Jim Watson announced the good news on Thursday, May 30, and Sandra will receive her key during a ceremony on July 8, reports the Ottawa Citizen.

In a press release, Mayor Watson explained that, "Sandra Oh has earned accolades as a talented actress who is dedicated to her craft and respected by both peers and critics alike. We are proud to call her Ottawa’s own, and have her serve as a role model to aspiring performing artists in Ottawa and around the world."

It's hard to imagine a better inspiration than Sandra, and this is a really cool way for her hometown to acknowledge her achievements. Congrats!
