It's a pretty solid break up...kinda. Shonda Rhimes has called the breakup a “very definite moment for them,” which doesn't sound promising. As Shonda put it, "[Cristina] did walk away and he didn't walk after her ... love that last shot where he's like, 'This isn't over,' which is what he was saying but he was not following her and Owen is always sort of following her."
But they are still in love. As Kevin McKidd put it, "whether they ever are together again, there's so much connection and history between them that they're always going to have some kind of relationship." Shonda seems to agree with this, saying, "Do they still love each other? Absolutely. Is that love ever going to die? I don't know." According to Kevin McKidd, we will see Owen try to win Cristina back ... at least at first.
Cristina might be his wing woman? According to Kevin McKidd, we might actually see Cristina help Owen find the right woman to have a child with. Which sounds, um, interesting, to say the least.
Sandra Oh is leaving after Season 10. Star Sandra Oh revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she's leaving the show after Season 10. Shonda recently promised she will give departing cast members a "beautiful exit," so expect a Cristina-centric season. "This year is going to be bittersweet for us — we're both going to savor every moment of Cristina Yang, and then we're going to give her the exit she deserves. And when Sandra walks out of my door, Grey's Anatomy will once again be forever changed," Shonda told THR.
Details on Cristina's storylines aren't confirmed yet — but she wants a happy ending. "We have to start the process, story-wise, for the Grey's writers to think of why she's going to go," Sandra told THR. However, she wants her to "ride off into the sunset" and let Cristina have a "happily ever after."
