Jesse Williams is a busy guy. When he’s not filming Grey’s Anatomy, he doesn’t just sit around and relax — in the past few months, he’s recorded for The Mortal Instruments audio book series, penned a CNN op-ed and blog post criticizing Django Unchained, and most recently, helped crowd-source for new Kickstarter project, Question Bridge.

While we wait anxiously for him to release news about his acting career, we were still excited to hear that he had exciting news for his big project. On the heels of donating personal “thank you” phone calls to anyone who donates $200 or more on Kickstarter, the project was successfully funded on July 10! In fact, it actually made almost $10k more than their original goal, with $77,676 pledged compared to their $68k goal. (Notably, only five backers actually pledged under Jesse’s phone call reward, though 14 additional people gave more than $200, too.)

As a refresher, Question Bridge is an online platform that Jesse collaborated with Hank Willis Thomas on. On the Kickstarter page (and in the trailer video), they explain it serves to “expose the true complexity, diversity, and humanity of an identity group,” specifically focused on black male identity. It is very complex, and Jesse is executive producer on this video-centric endeavor.
