For its milestone tenth season, Grey’s Anatomy is upping the drama and thrills in a two-hour premiere. Though details about the jam-packed Season 10 opener have trickled out throughout the past few weeks of filming, it wasn’t until Dan Bucatinsky, Grey’s writer and consulting producer, spoke up that we really started to get worried.
According to Dan (who is also an Emmy-nominated actor on Scandal), the premiere prominently features the “aftermath” of Meredith’s near-fatal birth, and will see MerDer working together in a new way.
“She had a rough birth. We’re going to see them in the hospital together and juggling their roles in a major way,” Dan told TVLine. In turn, the premiere is “dramatic, emotional and exciting,” which could be good or bad for our favorite doctors.
As for everyone else at Grey Sloan Memorial? Expect “fun and fresh” new things for everyone because of the newly-minted series regulars: the interns. “We’re going to watch these new interns become part of the fabric of the hospital,” Dan added. “That’s going to be part of what’s fun and fresh about this season. We’re going to get to know them better.”
We’re still unsure about what the interns will be doing — other than Jo kissing Alex — but we’re excited for what’s to come. As always, a little nervous, too, and ready for all the drama and emotions ahead this fall.
Do you think MerDer will be OK, or should we be freaking out? Sound off below!
