The honeymoon for Grey's Anatomy's Bailey (Chandra Wilson) and Ben (Jason George) was short-lived, as he took up a surgical residency at UCLA, but why he left was never explained.

We know the real reason — Jason was busy filming his next project, ABC's salacious summer soap Mistresses — but what reason did the writers give the Ben-lessness? A Season 9 deleted scene unveils the reasoning, plus Ben and Bailey’s surprising coping mechanism for his absence.

The scene is included on the DVD set, which comes out August 27; but The Hollywood Reporter has an early look at the scene, so watch the clip to find out below!

"I have a new nickname, one that refers to our sex life," Bailey tells Ben as she waits for an ambulance to arrive.

"Really?" he says, laughing before realizing she doesn't see the humor.

"My interns don't respect me because I am distracted," she explains. "You are distracting me from being a good doctor."

Her solution? She bans him from Seattle for a month. A solid month. To that, he asks if they can at least indulge in dirty phone calls.

Check out the video for her hilarious response!
