All you Crowen shippers, Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) was this close to sacrificing his Grey's Anatomy career for the sake of your favorite romance.

OK, we don't know if that was his main rationale. But, in a new interview with TV Guide, Kevin says that he nearly called it a wrap when he heard that onscreen love interest Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang) was leaving — and that he initially wanted a different fate for Cristina and Owen.

"I wrestled with it a little bit because I thought it might be nice to have Cristina and Owen walk off into the sunset together," Kevin reveals. "But, for whatever reason that it's obviously the right moment for Sandra to do this, for me, it isn't."

So, Kevin seems on board to continue for as long as the show lasts, which suggests that either Owen and Cristina will stay separated or that they'll have some sort of long-distance and hardly-mentioned relationship.

Besides, Kevin says, he has more work to do as Owen.

"Sandra, Ellen, Patrick, and all those guys have four or five years on me at playing these characters," he explains. "I still feel like I have areas of Owen I'd like to get a chance to explore because I really love this character the more and more I get to play him."

Would you have preferred a Grey's Anatomy without Owen but with the comfort of knowing that he and Cristina are together? Or would you rather have Kevin on the show as Cristina's ex? Sound off below!
