Didn't you love Olivia Wilde's performance on last night's Season 10 premiere of Grey's Anatomy? No? You say, you didn't see her? Oh yeah, that's because she's never been on the show.
But don't try telling that to the woman who mistook the 29-year-old actress for Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) at a Los Angeles after-party following the premiere of Olivia's new movie, Rush. She recounted the whole bizarre exchange on the September 24 episode of The Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
"This woman came up to me and she said, 'I think you're great.' And I said, 'Oh, thanks,' And she said, 'I loved you on your show.' And I said, 'Oh, thank you.' And she said, 'Grey's Anatomy is one of my favorites.'"
Uh, come again? Grey's? Olivia? ¿Que?
Olivia took the mistake in stride, though: "I was like, 'It's OK! I get it. Totally understandable… Not on Grey's Anatomy.' And she's like, 'Yes, you were.' I was like, 'No, I wasn't. I'm so sorry. Do you think I'm Ellen Pompeo? That's such a compliment. I tried to say a 'thank you'!"
The hilariously mixed-up fan was undeterred, however, and even offered her professional services.
And she's like, 'No, you were, and I liked you on it, and let me just give you my card, and if you ever need something, you call me.' And she gave me her card, and she's a psychic!"
The addled woman can perhaps be excused, though — Olivia donned a white coat to play a Dr. Remy "Thirteen" Hadley during five seasons of the medical drama House.
