With Grey’s Anatomy’s 10th season in full swing, there’s a question in the back of everyone’s minds, especially as the show approaches its milestone 200th episode: Are we approaching the end? And if not, will we lose any major cast members — besides Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang), who’s already confirmed to make her departure by season’s end — for Season 11?

According to what creator Shonda Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter, she’s not worried. A big point of discussion recently has been whether or not Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) and Patrick Dempsey (Derek Shepherd) will choose to re-up their contracts for another year. It would be pretty hard to continue a show called Grey’s Anatomy without the titular character, right?

“I’ll figure it out when we get there, but I’m not even thinking about ‘should they opt to continue on’” Shonda said. “Sandra isn’t even gone yet. We still have an entire season to do.”

But fortunately, Patrick’s not quite ready to hang up his scrub cap — at least not yet. “I think the way the show is developing this year makes it really interesting,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview of his own. “We'll see how it goes. I think there's something that could happen — possibly.”

And what can we expect when Season 10 does reach its end?

“This year, we’re doing a split season — 10A and 10B with 12 and 12 [episodes each] — and we're focused on the first half of the season this year,” Shonda explained. “That was my solution to cope with not knowing who's coming back. I'm not going to worry about what's going to happen because I have no control over that.”

Where do you think Grey’s AnatomySeason 10 will leave us — Meredith and Derek-less, or on the edge of our seats waiting for yet another season to begin? Sound off below!
