Can we all just agree that, for a novelty Halloween episode, Grey's Anatomy Season 10, Episode 7 was surprisingly OK? Would you even be so far as to agree with us that this episode might have been the best of the season so far?
Yeah, we were totally naysayers about this episode from its previews and spoilers, and indeed, the first few scenes were a little nerve-wracking. Luckily, there was a totally rational explanation for the zombies, and we can carry on.
Luckily, the episode picked up more and more character-development momentum from there. Leah (Tessa Ferrer) tries to be an easy-peasy friend-with-benefit to Arizona (Jessica Capshaw) but fails when she thinks that she might have contracted HIV — and Arizona is happy to lend her emotional support in this instance. Ben (Jason George) does this hugely romantic thing by dropping out of his surgical program to move home, but Bailey (Chandra Wilson) justifiably can't help feeling a little disappointed in him. Richard (James Pickens Jr.) fires Bailey from her job supervising the interns and makes amends with Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), hoping she'll take over. Mer is still ambivalent about Cristina (Sandra Oh), who, in turn, doesn't know if she can fix things. April (Sarah Drew) puts Jackson (Jesse Williams) in his place, awesomely. Shane (Gaius Charles) comes to terms with Heather's death. Callie (Sara Ramirez) begins to be on the same page as Arizona again. Jo (Camilla Luddington) finally reaches a breakthrough with Alex (Justin Chambers) and seems to know him better than any of us. And Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton) is hilariously blind.
Oh yeah, and Cristina and Shane. That happened. And it was hotter than we could have expected.
So yeah, it was a solid hour of television with a few spooks and chills around the edges. In Shonda We Trust!
