Grey’s Anatomy is always filled with drama, but the hit medical show is upping the ante in Season 10, Episode 9: “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” In the Callie-centric hour, we’ll see flashbacks of her and adulterous wife Arizona, the return of her father, and a huge malpractice lawsuit that could cost the orthopedic surgeon her career.

Though details about the case are still mostly under wraps — we know it’s an athlete who wants her to perform a new operation on his hip — the aftermath is revealed in a new sneak peek, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

The video starts with an awkward Calzona encounter, as Arizona walks into the board room, sees Callie, and immediately walks to the other side of the table. Similar moments happen as everyone else trickles in, and as Jackson sits down to start the meeting, he says, “All right, we’re going to make this quick, I know we’re all busy. Callie, I thought you understood you can’t be here…”

This leads to Callie’s epic speech of the episode (or at least one of them) in which she says, “I know, and it’s a conflict of interest. I just wanted to say something before you get started. Travis Read is suing both me and the hospital. I have no intention of settling with him, but the hospital should. As a owner and a member of the board, I know how hard it’s been to get this place back on its feet, and I don’t want you to jeopardize that because of me.”

She then exits — drop mic moment, anyone? — and the conversation really starts. After Derek questions what their legal team said, Jackson admits he was told to “settle now, quickly and quietly.” Arizona chimes in to ask what would happen if they don’t, perhaps trying to save her estranged wife’s job.

“Well, if this thing goes to trial and there’s a judgement against us, we could owe millions, or we could settle this for much less,” Jackson explains, to which Derek adds, “If we go to trial, we risk bankruptcy all over again.”

But then, there’s suddenly a ray of hope… with Meredith! “Only if we lose,” she reasons. There’s another side to this. Maybe if Callie isn’t settling, maybe neither should we.”

Unfortunately, the bomb really drops after — from Cristina, which will likely hurt her relationship with Mer even more. “No, I was there,” she says. “I saw first-hand what happened with this patient, and he has a case. A good case.”

Eek. Sounds like Callie has her work cut out for her. Do you think she’ll be victorious in her case, or will she be sent packing from Grey Sloan Memorial? Check out the clip over at Entertainment Weekly, then hit the comments with your thoughts.
