This week’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy — Season 10, Episode 9, “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word” — is The Big One.

What do we mean by that? We’ve heard nothing but talk about Callie’s malpractice suit for the past few weeks, and we’ve been dying to find out exactly what goes down to land her in the courtroom. So how exactly did she end up getting sued? We’ll walk you through it:

All the background info you need to know: It all started when Callie, against her better judgment, agreed to do a hip replacement on Travis, an Olympic snowboarder, using the Peterson Resurfacing Hip Joint, a procedure she was totally unfamiliar with. She wasn’t onboard at first, but Travis managed to talk her into it. After all, Cristina used a never-before-seen procedure to repair his heart, right? What could go wrong?

Answer: a lot. Turns out, during surgery, things started to go south for Travis, and in order to save his life, Callie had to sew him up quickly — so quickly that there was no time to make sure all the sponges in the room were accounted for. So Travis comes back in with a massive infection, and it gets so bad that he ends up losing both his legs and will never snowboard again.

And if you’re gonna botch a surgery, you don’t want to leave an Olympic snowboarder wheelchair bound.

So Callie and Derek are giving a presentation on their awesome robotic hands when Callie’s served papers. Nice robotic arm, but, um, you’re being sued.

The trial: The good part about Callie going to court is that she has a heck of a support system. Pretty much everybody shows up, even Richard (who’s looking a lot better these days, in our opinion). And being that Jo scrubbed in on the surgery, she’s gotta testify — as does Cristina.

Also notable: Callie rips her pantyhose and has to go change them in the bathroom of the courthouse, in the midst of a bit of a mental breakdown. Arizona walks in and totally cheers her up with a drawing by Sofia. Our hearts. They hurt.

And it practically goes without saying that Callie’s rhinestone butterfly pantyhouse are top-notch.

The return of Daddy Torres: Not only was this episode highlyanticipated because of the lawsuit but also because we get to welcome Callie’s dad back to Seattle. We’d like to nominate him for 2013 TV Father of the Year, because after revealing Callie’s mom forgave him after he cheated on her long ago, he gets Callie thinking about finally forgiving Arizona. Which we’ve been hoping would happen since the season began, but no big deal.

The Calzona Flashbacks: One of our favorite parts of this episode were far and away the flashbacks to the weeks leading up to the lawsuit and Callie and Arizona’s eventual break-up. We find out they decided they wanted to have another baby, and Arizona actually gets pregnant but ends up losing the baby. Besides that heartbreaking moment, seeing scenes where Callie and Arizona are actually happy together again? Made our night.

Although that opening montage of the Calzona infidelity fight were brutal. Heart, meet Magic Bullet.

And the verdict? Not guilty.

The jury ultimately sides with Callie, but she doesn’t look too pleased about it in the end. The fact of the matter is that it was a horrible thing that happened, and we’re assuming we’ll see Callie’s relief later on.

The other important decision of the episode? Callie decides to finally forgive Arizona and shows up at her hotel room, asking her to come home but telling her to take some time and think about it first. Callie leaves just in time to not see that Leah is fifty shades of naked behind the door, and Arizona promptly asks her to leave.
