A lot of things happen behind the scenes at our favorite TV shows and movies that are essential in the making of what we eventually see on screen. And without an amazing casting director like Linda Lowy, Grey’s Anatomy might not have become the huge hit it is today — and with a different cast, our doctors as we know them wouldn’t exist!

And at the 29th annual Artios Awards, hosted by the Casting Society of America, Linda took home the well deserved Hoyt Bowers award for her work on Grey’s and Scandal, presented to her by Scandal’s Kerry Washington!

And a lady who is no stranger to Grey’s Anatomy fans, creator Shonda Rhimes, filmed a clip that was part of a bigger video of people who have worked with Linda sharing their thanks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shonda called Linda’s input “invaluable” in creating the diverse casts that make up Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal.

And Sandra Oh (Cristina Yang) and Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey) also appeared in the video to praise her work. Sandra pointed out how different she and Chandra look as a testament to Linda’s skill, and said she “changed the game.”

We have to agree — the Grey’s Anatomy cast is made up of people of all races and backgrounds, and because of that, the show has always been known to push the boundaries of television. And we love it!

Once Linda made it up to the stage (to a standing ovation, we might add), she thanked Shonda, joking, “I honestly don’t know where I’d be without Shonda Rhimes. I’d probably be at home, and most likely not the home I currently live in.”

We don’t know where we’d be without her, either!
