If you were just starting to like Shane (Gaius Charles) on Grey's Anatomy, brace yourself. He may soon take a turn for the more-irritating.

In TV Guide's weekly spoiler Q&A, a Grey's watcher pleads with the editors to assure fans that the relationship between Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Shane isn't real. (Hey, have we settled on "Crane" as the 'ship name? It sounds better than "Shistina.")

The site's editors couldn't speak to that, but they could reveal that Gaius will be "channeling his Friday Night Lights character, Smash, when Shane takes his cockiness to a new level."

It sounds like the intern is gonna develop a serious case of talking back — along with other behavior that's gonna irk the other MDs.

For fans already ambivalent about the new blood on the show — who exhibit the kind of new-character backlash we recently discussed with Sarah Drew — we have to think that this obnoxiousness isn't going to do Shane any favors in the court of public opinion.

That said, we have been known to be made a little hot under the collar by Shane's smooth moves, so if he's getting more confident with Cristina, we're not opposed to watching that play out.

Are you excited to see Shane stir the Grey Sloan pot a bit? Or are you dreading his annoying antics? Let us know below!

Grey's Anatomy airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
