As much as we’ve hated seeing it happen, we’ve gotta admit it: seeing Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) fight on Grey’s Anatomy this season has made for some awesome scenes. And we’re not the only ones who feel that way, either — Vulture has named their ongoing argument the best fight of 2013.

The fight has worn on and on since then, with Meredith and Cristina bickering over their respective medical trials, and doing that thing where you get even madder at someone because they're not "there" for you — but they're not there because you were already mad at each other,” Vulture’s Margaret Lyons wrote. “One can be a great person and a great doctor, but when Meredith and Cristina looked at each other, that's not what either of them saw.”

“What strikes me the most about Meredith and Cristina's fight is how authentic it is, and how even among the hyperbolic and melodramatic stories of the series, this cuts absolutely to the essential qualities of the characters,” she added.

Which is probably why it hurt so much to see Meredith and Cristina fight. Although we’ve followed along with their friendship from its beginning for ten years and are so invested in their characters, we can see our own friendships and fights mirrored in theirs, and we know exactly what each of them is going through.

And best of all, because Mer and Cristina fought, we got to see them make-up. The scene that took place right before April’s wedding where they finally talked it out and admitted that while they may be taking different paths in life, they are still deeply connected after years of BFF-dom was one of our favorites in Season 10.

If only we didn’t have to say goodbye to Cristina so soon when Sandra makes her exit from Grey’s at the end of the season. We’re welling up already!
