It's been a long road for Frankie & Alice, but the critically acclaimed film is finally getting a nationwide release.

That's good news for one of the movie's stars — Grey's Anatomy actress Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey)!

The biographical drama — based on a true story — stars Halle Berry as Frankie, a go-go dancer with multiple personality disorder. Frankie struggles to contend with her "alter" personalities — one a 7-year-old child and the other a Southern white racist.

Chandra plays Maxine, Frankie's younger and adversarial sister. (Sounds like a juicy role!) The film also stars Stellan Skarsgard and Phylicia Rashad.

The movie was shot in December 2008 — back when Grey's was still airing its fifth season! It enjoyed a limited release in Los Angeles in December 2010 to qualify for that year's award season. Both Halle and the film itself won NAACP Image Awards, and Halle was nominated for a Golden Globe.

But the film never managed to earn a widespread release and languished on the shelf for nearly three years. But now, Lionsgate's Codeblack Films has picked up the rights to the movie, per The Hollywood Reporter, which means… drumroll please…

Frankie & Alice will hit theaters on April 4, 2014. Check out the trailer below and get excited!
