As happy as we are that April (Sarah Drew) and Jackson (Jesse Williams) rode off into the sunset in the Grey's Anatomy episode last night, February 27 — Season 10, Episode 13: "Take It Back" — we wanna know what happened to the guy she left at the altar, her would-be-groom Matthew (Justin Bruening).
Unfortunately, we may never get any sort of post-mortem with the kind-hearted paramedic — it sounds like Matthew hasn't been a part of any of the Season 10 episodes filmed so far. (They just wrapped Episode 19 last night, FYI.)
Sarah drops that tidbit when TVLine's Michael Ausiello asks if April and Matthew have gotten a moment of closure.
"No. Not as of yet," Sarah reveals. "Matthew is [probably] so unbelievably humiliated by the whole thing that he doesn’t ever want to talk to or see her — or anybody at the hospital — ever again. What we do get to see is April and Jackson dealing with the wreckage of what they left behind, and that’s why [their relationship and subsequent marriage] has been a secret; they don’t want to have to deal with everything. They want to have a moment to themselves."
Still, we feel a bit robbed that we never bore witness to how April revealed her decision at the altar. All we saw was her bounding with joy out of that fateful barn hand-in-hand with Jackson, not seeming to care at all about the broken-hearted man she left behind. We say, bring back the paramedic — with a vengeance!
