With the news that Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes is bringing Isaiah Washington back to the show for an episode in May, we're debating whether this was the right choice or not.

This is the argument in support of Isaiah's return. Click here for the argument against him coming back.

Shonda, who has always kept mum on the controversy, is probably not bringing the actor back because she has missed having him on set — especially since she's an LGBT ally. She seems to be doing it simply because she feels that's what Cristina's storyline necessitates.

And that's a fair stance. The veteran TV producer seems to be willing to put any personal feelings aside for the sake of the story.

After all, Burke is not Isaiah. Burke is a well-liked character and an honorable man who was spurned at the altar and never came back. Perhaps he does deserve closure of some sort with Cristina (Sandra Oh). True, the show hasn't suffered without him — but Grey's fans are likely curious to know what the cardiothoracic surgeon is up to and how he'll interact with Cristina all these years later… and with Owen! Could make for some good drama.
