Update (April 15, 2014): Tonight's the night, Grey's fans! Catch Kate's new TV gig when Fargo premieres tonight, April 15, at 10 p.m. ET on FX.

Original story (March 24, 2014): Addison Forbes Montgomery who? Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice alum Kate Walsh's next TV role takes about as far away as she can get from our favorite neonatal surgeon — save for that lustrous red hair, of course.

The 46-year-old is one of the stars of Fargo, a limited FX series based on the Coen Brothers' now-classic 1996 film.

The TV version stays true to the spirit and tone of the movie but features new characters and new mysteries "all entrenched in the trademark humor, murder, and 'Minnesota nice' that made the film an enduring classic," FX says.

Billy Bob Thornton (Sling Blade) stars as a vagabond criminal who uproots the life of innocuous insurance salesman, played by Martin Freeman (The Hobbit). Meanwhile, the local cops are played by Colin Hanks (Dexter), Allison Tolman (Sordid Lives), and Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad).

But by the looks of the trailer below, it seems like Kate steals the show as stripper-slash-mother Gina Hess, who — in a high-pitched, scratchy voice — announces that she's going to sing at her dead husband's funeral… before launching into an impromptu rendition of "Alouette."

Be on the lookout when the series premieres on April 15!
