Chyler Leigh — best known as Grey's Anatomy's dearly-departed Lexie Grey — has found a second life on television!

This summer, NBC will air her new show, Taxi Brooklyn — a dramedy series produced by EuropaCorp Television and a spin-off of the French Taxi film series, directed by EuropaCorp owner Luc Besson — as Variety reports.

The series focuses on New York City cop Cat Sullivan whose relentless investigation of the murder of her father — an NYC detective himself — lands her a demotion to foot patrol. She meets a taxi driver (Inglourious Basterds' Jacky Ido) and marries him so that he can get a green card and stay in the country — and so that she has high-speed transportation around the city.

If the plot sounds familiar, you probably saw either the French Taxi films or the 2004 remake with Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon. (That American version got a 10% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so let's hope Taxi Brooklyn fares better.)

Lately, NBC and the other broadcast networks have been trying to break the mold of the traditional TV season by airing scripted content over the summer, and internationally-produced content like Taxi Brooklyn helps the cause!

But for us, we're just glad to have something to help fill that Lexie-sized hole in our hearts!
