Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) is up for one of the most prestigious awards in medicine, the Harper Avery award, and on Grey's Anatomy Season 10, Episode 20: "Go It Alone," we should find out if the medical superstar takes home the prize. Until the episode finally airs next Thursday, April 17, all we can do is speculate.

Episode 19 ended with Cristina admitting to Owen that she thinks she has a shot at the win, and Owen totally backed her up. Yeah, they aren't exactly unbiased sources, but they are two very smart people — if they think Cristina's project is one of the best, it probably is. But just because she could win doesn't mean she will.

In the end, Grey's Anatomy is a TV show, so Cristina's win or loss will have more to do with what works best for the story than the merits of fictional medical projects. And, honestly, we could see it going either way.

On one hand, everyone knows this is Sandra Oh's last season as a series regular. It's very possible that the writers will send Cristina off on a high note, using a Harper Avery win to highlight exactly how extraordinary this character is. Plus, it's easy to imagine Cristina being bombarded with incredible job offers after a win, which could lead directly to her exit at the end of the season.

On the other hand, is that a bit too easy? We could also see the writers denying Cristina this prize, for now. Maybe not winning will be the push Cristina needs to leave Grey Sloan memorial for someplace where she thinks she can spread her wings even further. Though if the writers do go in this direction, we hope they bring Cristina back at some point in the future to finally win, because our girl deserves all the accolades she can get.

What do you think: Will Cristina win next week, or will she be denied the top prize? Which do you think makes for a more interesting story? Let us know in the comments below!
