the medical drama. The 35-year-old actress is a full-time employee of NBC now that it has ordered her new show, State of Affairs, to series.

Executives at the Peacock Network must have loved the pilot episode Katherine filmed in March — the series order means that they want more episodes of the show produced and that the show will definitely air at some point for the 2014-2015 television season.

And that means that Katherine's first full-time television gig since leaving Grey's in 2009 could hit screens as soon as September. Only four months away!

In the show, Katherine plays Charleston Whitney Tucker, a CIA attaché who liaises with the President of the United States (played by Alfre Woodard), counseling her on high-stakes international crises. Charlie's personal life is just as complicated as her profession, though, especially because the President is also her late boyfriend's mother. Above you can see the first official promotional still of Katherine as Charlie!

Co-starring with Katherine and Alfre are Cliff Chamberlain (The Mob Doctor), Adam Kaufman (Without a Trace), Tommy Savas (Hollywood Heights), Sheila Vand (Cult), and Leslie Odom, Jr. (Smash).

A high-pressure job + a complicated love and family life = a show Grey's fans will likely love… and perhaps a good enough reason for Katherine to delay Izzie's return!
